Like some kind of psyche/ garage supergroup, Fat Elvis is made up of a melange of members from other Dark Circles projects. Chris Lute (Weird Science/Whale Zombie) handles guitar duties for the band,, shaping the sound in the direction of some of his solo material, but with a more live, energetic edge. Madeline Jackson (Dawgtooth) lends the ensemble her characteristic vocal stylings. Nathan Moore (Sportfishing USA/TEEN AGE) lays down the melodic bass lines that seem pulled straight out of the Pop playbook. And Chris Lee (Melk/Vodou) keeps the drums right where they belong, laying back and pushing whenever necessary. These seven songs were recorded mostly live in the studio by Todd Hochradel, who didn't hesitate to push the analog gear he used to its limits, being more familiar with more electronic sound sources. The result is a tightly-focused blast of musical noise that pays homage to the roots of soul and rock.
